- Theatre Management: This course looks at the role of theater manager as a driving force in the American theatrical landscape. We will cover practical topics like grant writing, budgeting, and board management, as well as big picture topics like the relationship between commercial and not for profit theatre and how theatre shapes communities.
- Arts Administration: This course looks at the role of the arts manager in shaping our interactions with theatre, dance, music, and visual art.
- Critical Issues in Theatre Management: An exploration of leadership styles as they relate to theatre management. Within the framework of artistic leadership we will explore the management/leadership divide, the role of group dynamics in building effective teams, and practical leadership skills.
- The Art of Storytelling: Ever wonder why some people are great at telling stories while others can put you to sleep? It’s all in the delivery. Storytelling is an art with a specific technique that can rivet your audience every time. In this class you'll learn the elements of storytelling and dramatic structure and how some minor adjustments in story structure have made the difference between a hit and a flop. Get ready to wow your guests at your next dinner party.
- BRT Book Club: Do you love discussing great plays? We’ll meet to discuss six exciting works of dramatic literature. Join us in person to discuss the plays with a glass of wine and some light refreshments or pour yourself a drink at home and join us via Zoom. Learn about the history of the plays and playwrights and offer your personal take to see how your opinion compares to your classmates.
