Reviews

New York Times
“As effortlessly edible as a Cheeto-dusted mac and cheese…what a delight to see Shakespeare’s ladies call the shots, not to mention doing shots with Shakespeare’s ladies.”

The Daily Beast
"A pure and unadulterated delight…a near perfectly turned Love’s Labour’s Lost…rarely have I seen an audience more engaged or enthralled with Shakespeare…a performance that will be remembered long after the liquor and the wine and the vanilla panna cotta with brown butter crumble have worn off."

The New Yorker
“A waggishly loose adaptation…There’s a deliberate irony in [this] epicurean take on a play that begins with a young monarch’s vow to practice abstemious living…Between the smoked-salmon canapés and the arrival of the Cheeto-dusted mac and cheese, King Ferdinand and his men forswear sumptuous food, luxuriant sleep, and the company of women. Then the Princess of France…show[s] up, and the men’s resolve is predictably and risibly undone.

NBC
“If you’re looking for an Off-Broadway production that’s as filling as it is fun, then Shake and Bake is the show for you.”

TheaterMania
"Joyous, inventive, and thoroughly irreverent…the cast welcomes us into what feels like an intimate dinner party…these plays were written to be performed for the groundlings as they swilled ale and chowed down on turkey legs. Cheeto Dusted Mac n' Cheese (the junk-food-as-haute-cuisine fourth course) is certainly the Meatpacking District equivalent of that."

Gothamist
"It turns out that you've never fully experienced Shakespeare until you've seen Love's Labour's Lost in the round with an aggressively flamboyant Don Adriano de Armado…This is the Shake & Bake company's first foray, and they've turned the typically corny dinner theater into a riotous delight. The food is great too, from Hot Cheeto dusted mac & cheese to vanilla panna cotta, with plenty of booze to wash it all down."
